Bonava, a residential developer, has initiated the first phase of the Seminariet housing project in Luthagen, near central Uppsala, Sweden.

The project is set to deliver its first 66 new homes to customers by the second half (H2) of 2026.

The Seminariet neighbourhood, which will be constructed in two phases, will feature a total of 113 apartments upon completion.

Bonava business unit president Michael Björklund said: “There has been a great deal of interest from customers in Seminariet and we have reached a good booking ratio.

“We have worked with this project for many years and are delighted to provide Uppsala residents with new homes of the highest quality. In addition, Bonava is sprucing up the Seminarie Park, which will be delivered to the municipality and will be accessible to the public.”

Bonava plans to construct three buildings in stages, offering a variety of housing units ranging from one to five bedrooms and spanning 33m² to 125m².

The development will also have a sauna and relaxation space, a community events area, and bookable overnight accommodations.

Uppsala Municipality has indicated a need for the construction of 2,000 to 3,000 new housing units annually to keep up with the growing demand for accommodation.

Bonava has a longstanding presence in Uppsala, having developed several neighbourhoods in the city.

These include Kapellgärdet with approximately 1,000 housing units, Kungsträdgårdarna with about 350 units, and Nästet with just over 70 units.

Last month, Bonava began the production of approximately 180 housing units across various regions in Germany.

These regions include Berlin and its surrounding areas, as well as Rhine-Main, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony.
