US-based turnkey, design-build contractor BlueScope Construction has secured a new supplier contract from government agency Sourcewell.

It is the third consecutive, four-year Sourcewell contract that the company has won in the category of pre-engineered buildings with related materials and services.

With the new contract, the company will continue to provide new facility construction and renovations to local, county and state government agencies, as well as educational and non-profit organisations, until 2027.

BlueScope is claimed to be the only design-build, turnkey contractor that has been granted this new contract.

The City of Urbana, Illinois, recently partnered with BlueScope to construct a 23,500ft² multifunctional building using its Sourcewell membership.

City of Urbana Department of Public Works Operations deputy director Vince Gustafson said: “Through the design-build process with BlueScope Construction, we were able to maximise our specific needs to our project budget, and ended up with as much square footage and under-roof space as we possibly could.

“Had we followed a traditional procurement process, it could’ve easily added six to eight months before we would’ve had a contract in hand.”
