Binastra Builders, a subsidiary of Binastra, has received a letter of award (LoA) for the construction of a proposed data centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The contract, granted by Exsim Jalil Link, is worth RM574.4m ($131.93m).

In March this year, Exsim Jalil Link awarded another contract to the company for a residential development.

The latest contract encompasses the design, construction, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and guarantee for the data centre’s foundational, substructural, main building, and infrastructure works.

The project is set to feature a five-storey data centre building, office space, a guardhouse, a refuse room, and a TNB electrical substation.

Construction work on the data centre is set to start on 1 October 2024, with an anticipated completion date within 16 months.

Located on Lot PT 50272, Jalan Jalil Perkasa 1, the project is expected to provide Binastra with an additional income stream over the next two financial years.

It is also forecast to have a positive impact on the company’s earnings and net assets per share projected for the financial years ending 31 January 2025 to 2028.

Binastra Builders’ directors, in a statement, said: “The acceptance of the contract is in the best interest of the company.”

This contract follows closely on the heels of an award to Binastra Builders from Kaisar Maxim for the construction of three blocks of apartments in the country, valued at RM283.33m.

Currently, the company covers projects such as residential housing, commercial and retail shop lots, data centres, and more.

Binastra is also looking to expand into mixed-development construction projects within Malaysia.
