Construction and design company BAM has been commissioned to develop a new law school for the University of London.
Tendered under the Southern Construction Framework, the £42m project includes construction of a 7,240m2 building architected by Wilkinson Eyre.
BAM competed against Wates and Morgan Sindall for the project, who bid for a single stage design and build tender.
The construction project will see the removal and refurbishment of four existing structures on the corner of Sebastian Street and Goswell Road. The former buildings will be demolished, while structures at Goswell Road and the Myddleton Building will be retained and integrated into the new campus.
Bam will construct a new seven–storey glass tower and a four-storey brick structure with a central atrium space between the four blocks.
The University of London’s head of projects Ed Kevin said: “This is an exciting and significant project for the University of London, being our largest investment in the estate, and the first new build in over a decade.
