UK-based infrastructure company Balfour Beatty has secured a contract to deliver the second phase of Wapping Wharf regeneration project in Bristol.
The £43m contract was awarded by Wapping Wharf Living, a joint venture between Umberslade and Muse Developments.
Wapping Wharf comprises more than 200 homes and a retail quarter featuring independent restaurants, shops and cafes.
Balfour Beatty South of England regional managing director Jonathan Winter said: “There has been significant interest from the local community in the redevelopment of this historic part of the iconic Floating Harbour.
“We look forward to delivering the next phase of this exciting new quarter in the heart of Bristol where people can live, shop, eat and relax by the city’s waterfront.”
Homes England has provided £23.4m in funding to Wapping Wharf Living from its Home Building Fund for phase two of the project.

By GlobalDataUnder the terms of the contract, Balfour Beatty will provide two residential blocks consisting of 256 new homes, four new retail units covering an area of 659m², ground level car parking, bicycle storage and landscaping for the new homes.
The Grade II listed Gaol Gate and Gaol Wall Structures will be retained and restored, as well as act as a pedestrian feature entrance to the residential buildings.
Muse Developments residential development director Duncan Cumberland said: “We are delighted to be moving forward with phase two of Wapping Wharf and replicate the funding structures with Homes England and Sovereign Housing that were so successful on phase one.”
Set to commence next month, works are expected to complete in 2020. The project will employ more than 250 individuals during construction.
