Balfour Beatty has secured a £68m contract from Audley Group to develop the new Mayfield Watford retirement village in Watford, London.
The scope of work under the contract involves design and construction of the new retirement village and will lead the completion of about 255 one- and two- bedroom apartments.
The company will also lead the delivery of communal facilities that include swimming pool, restaurant, a health club and a multi-purpose village hall that will be surrounded with green spaces and parking.
Balfour Beatty will manufacture 180 apartment balconies offsite, thereby reducing the risk of working at height and improve the overall project efficiency.
The early works at the site are already underway and the main construction works are slated to be completed in 2023.
The pre-construction services work at the project site were competed.

Audley Group construction director Kevin Hudson said: “The demand for our retirement villages remains at an all-time high, so we are pleased to be able to continue our work with Balfour Beatty.
“We know, through our long-term partnership, how the team works to deliver to our high standards.
Across the UK there continues to be a chronic lack of quality retirement housing provision and we are accelerating our growth plans to help meet this demand. Working with quality construction partners like Balfour Beatty helps us redress this balance.”
Last month, Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Axium Infrastructure have announced plans to develop a mixed-use student housing project for Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
