Rolls-Royce has appointed infrastructure group Balfour Beatty as the construction partner for its Raynesway site expansion in the UK.
The expansion is in response to increased demand from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the AUKUS agreement.
The augmented demand is expected to generate 1,170 skilled positions at Rolls-Royce. These roles will span various disciplines, including manufacturing and engineering.
Rolls-Royce announced in June last year that it would double the size of its Submarines site in Derby.
In March, Australia pledged £2.4bn ($3.06bn) over a decade to the UK’s SSN-AUKUS programme.
Balfour Beatty’s will undertake the construction of new manufacturing and office spaces, as well as developing the necessary site infrastructure, in response to the increased demand.
