UK-based infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has completed the transformation of Glasgow’s Scottish Events Campus (SEC) into a new temporary NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital.
Along with the local supply chain and partner contractors, Balfour Beatty as a principal contractor has completed the works on the new project in 20 days on behalf of the Scottish Government.

The new facility, which was built to provide extra patient capacity, will accommodate 1,036 beds for COVID-19 patients as NHS Scotland require additional flexibility at the time of the pandemic.
Work on the project included the construction of sterile temporary wards, installing and commissioning of life-saving oxygen and gas systems, along with laying 23,000m² of vinyl flooring.
The mechanical and electrical engineering works of the new facility were provided by Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick.
The works also included the installation of 220,000 metres of fibre-optic and structured cabling, 35,000 metres of network cabling for the nurse call system as well as 2,200 patient call devices, along with 1,144 oxygen outlet points.
