Software company Autodesk and the Nemetschek Group have entered an interoperability agreement to optimise workflows for their customers.
This agreement is aimed at enhancing collaboration and efficiency within the architecture, engineering, construction, operations (AECO), and media and entertainment (M&E) industries.
It is set to improve the exchange of information across the companies’ cloud and desktop products, facilitating a more seamless workflow.
Autodesk Architecture, Engineering and Construction Solutions executive vice-president Amy Bunszel said: “Autodesk is firmly committed to building open, integrated, cloud-powered solutions for our customers that unlock data and connect project teams.
“Extending Autodesk’s cloud and desktop solutions with Nemetschek interoperability is a huge step towards optimising our customers’ workflows and helping them generate better project outcomes.”
The agreement is designed to address what is noted to be the common challenge of siloed data and processes due to software and file incompatibility, often leading to inefficient workflows.

Autodesk Platform Services, which provides open application programming interfaces (APIs) and web services, will power the interoperability.
This integration will connect Nemetschek’s solutions such as dTwin, Bluebeam Cloud, BIMcloud, and BIMplus with Autodesk’s industry clouds – Forma, Fusion, and Flow – and design solutions.
It will also allow customers and partners to connect their data and capabilities across these solutions, leveraging automation, AI, and insights to optimise their projects.
The interoperability agreement underscores a shared commitment to integration and open industry standards such as openBIM by buildingSMART.
Nemetschek Group chief strategy officer Marc Nézet said: “Supporting openBIM, interoperability, and open industry standards is deeply rooted in the Nemetschek Group’s DNA.
“Our interoperability agreement with Autodesk is a historic move to give customers the ability to work in any project environment and with any software ecosystem, ultimately resulting in a better-built world.”
Under the agreement, Autodesk and the Nemetschek Group will provide mutual access to their APIs and industry clouds.
This access extends to Autodesk solutions, including AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds Max, and Maya, as well as Autodesk Forma and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
