Professional services company Accenture has agreed to acquire Scotland-headquartered construction consultancy Soben for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 2011, Soben integrates traditional quantity surveying with practical experience in commercial project management to provide users with better care and service.

The construction consultancy’s services include project controls, scheduling, cost management, and consultancy and advisory.

Soben employs approximately 250 people who serve clients in Western Europe, the US, Mexico, Brazil, India, and Australia.

As part of the deal, Soben’s employees will join Accenture’s infrastructure and capital projects practice within the Industry X segment.

Accenture said Soben’s expertise in data centre development and the pharmaceutical and energy industries will strengthen its capital projects capabilities in advisory, as well as project, cost, and commercial management for clients.

Accenture Industry X UK, Ireland & Africa lead Maddie Walker said: “Soben will enhance our infrastructure and capital projects capabilities across Europe, particularly boosting our practice in the UK.

“With complex capital projects on the horizon, and increasing adoption of AI, the UK is positioning itself for growth – and the construction sector must ensure it has the innovative thinking, technology, and skills to lead the way. Together, Accenture and Soben bring leading minds in capital projects expertise and emerging technology together.”

Accenture started expanding its infrastructure and capital projects business in 2023 with the purchase of advisory and management company Anser Advisory in the US, and consulting and programme management company Comtech in Canada.

Last year, Accenture acquired BOSLAN, a Spain-based management services provider focused on net-zero infrastructure, and Italian company IQT Group, a provider of engineering managed services for large infrastructure projects.
