The Philippines’ Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced the completion of construction of its Bay View Boulevard project in Abulug, Cagayan, Philippines.
The Abulug-Ballesteros Bay View Boulevard project is aimed at improving access to tourism destinations.
This marks the conclusion of the fifth phase of the coastal development initiative in Barangay Bagu.
The newly completed boulevard stretches 490 metres (m) and features a 6.7m-wide concrete pavement.
DPWH secretary Manuel Bonoan, referencing a report from DPWH Region II director Reynaldo Alconcel, noted that the project also includes pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, slope protection, and a seawall.
Bonoan said: “Abulug-Ballesteros Bay View Boulevard serves a crucial role in safeguarding the area against potential storm surge and flooding while providing a venue for various tourism-related businesses along the coastline as it provides a panoramic view of the beach.”
