Vinci Construction UK has won a £19m contract from Standard Life Investment to build a new temperature-controlled distribution centre and offices for Brakes Group.

The 185,000ft² distribution centre will have three separate zones comprising chilled, cold and ambient temperature-controlled areas.
Vinci will also build a 25,000ft² three-storey office block that will also be built alongside the main warehouse with small ancillary buildings.
The company will also provide fit-outs including all internal racking as well as mechanical and electrical services, sprinkler systems and frozen and chilled refrigeration; the supporting office areas will also be fitted by Vinci.
The centre will feature lorry parking areas at ground floor level to 6m in height, which will allow parking of 141 HGV vehicles; on top of this will be a decked car park with space for 200 vehicles.
Vinci’s retail division will start construction on the project this month and expects to complete it by March 2012.
