May 2022 has seen an increase of 1.75% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.15% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 40.85% in May 2022, a 13.4% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 24.58% in May 2022, marking a 68.8% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 10.73% in May 2022, a 19.44% rise from April 2022.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 33.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Black & Veatch posted 270 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 95.65% over the previous month, followed by Komatsu with 218 jobs and a 32.93% growth. Honeywell International with 170 IT jobs and Cummins with 94 jobs, recorded a 12.37% drop and a 135% rise, respectively, while Deere recorded a 5.38% decline with 88 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with an 84.73% share in May 2022, a 43.43% decrease over April 2022. Canada featured next with a 13.23% share, up 37.66% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 2.04% share, a drop of 43.68% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.07%, down by 24.86% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.5% share, registered a decline of 67.99% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.94% share, down 4.31% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 6.49%, recording a month-on-month growth of 5100%.
