Management Occupations drive construction industry hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 14%, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the global construction industry in Q2 2024, ahead of Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 9% share of job postings.
The other prominent roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 10% share and Construction and Extraction Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in construction industry accounted for 13% of hiring activity
The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 13% share of the overall hiring activity in the global construction industry in Q2 2024.
AECOM posted 10,245 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a drop of 12% over the previous quarter, followed by Jones Lang LaSalle with 10,049 jobs and an 8% growth. Johnson Controls International with 6,110 jobs and Compagnie de Saint-Gobain with 6,044 jobs, recorded a 24% growth and a 5% rise, respectively, while KEC International recorded a 0.48% rise with 5,627 job postings during Q2 2024.
Hiring activity was driven by North America with a 60% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
North America held the leading share of the new job postings in the global construction industry with a 60% share, 0.29% higher over Q1 2024. Europe stood next with 21%, registering a 4% decline over the previous quarter.
Asia-Pacific with a 15% share marked a 7% drop over Q1 2024. The South & Central America and Middle East & Africa accounted for shares of 0.68% and 18% respectively.
