Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the construction industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings drop by 20% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q1 2024, with new job postings dropping by 15% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 9% share in Q1 2024, Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in construction industry accounted for 28% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were AECOM, Honeywell International, ABB, Jones Lang LaSalle, and KION Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 28% of all future of work-related new jobs in the construction industry.
AECOM posted 2,257 future of work-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Honeywell International 2,073 jobs, ABB 1,647 jobs, Jones Lang LaSalle 1,625 jobs, and KION Group 1,122 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 60.60% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the construction industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 60.60% followed by India (9.62%) and the UK (4.43%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 58.49% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
