North America witnessed a 2.1% decline in IT hiring activity in the food service industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

July 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.84% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 0.13% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 51.4% in July 2021, a 22.22% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.5% in July 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 10.28% in July 2021, a flat growth from June 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 6.54% in July 2021, a 69.57% decline over the previous month.

Top five food service companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 17.86% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s food service industry during July 2021 over previous month.

McDonald’s posted 20 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 233.33% over the previous month, followed by Starbucks with 19 jobs and a 48.65% drop. Compass Group with 15 IT jobs and Chick-fil-A with 9 jobs, recorded a 42.31% decline and an 18.18% drop, respectively, while Domino’s Pizza recorded a 50% increase with 6 job postings during July 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s food service industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s food service industry IT hiring activity with a 95.33% share in July 2021, a 24.44% decline over June 2021. Canada featured next with a 4.67% share, up 150% over the previous month.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.55%, down by 25.27% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.56% share, a decline of 4.35% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.89% share, down 26.09% over June 2021.
