Construction company Invesis and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) have reached an agreement to build an Elective Care Hub at Wharfedale Hospital in the UK.
This development project carries a value of approximately £10m and aligns with the trust’s long-term goals to expand its hospital services and cut wait times.
As per the project’s variation agreement, Invesis will oversee the hospital facilities for a 30-year concession period.
The Elective Care Hub will include space for small cancers, urology, and benign gynaecology surgeries.
This new project variant, which commenced in 2021, comprises the development of two advanced operating theatres and a recovery area, along with admissions and discharge amenities.
For this expansion, Wharfedale Hospital’s current area, which formerly housed the endoscopy department, will be reconfigured for elective surgery.

By GlobalDataThe Elective Care Hub is currently under development, with a phased approach being applied to reduce the impact on activities and patient care at the hospital.
The new facilities are expected to be operational by September next year.
LTHT E&F Commercial Services associate director Amanda Gomersall said: “We are delighted that the construction of the Elective Care Hub is now in progress. A crucial element for the success of this project is our collaborative partnership with Invesis, spanning from the initial planning phase to the design and eventual delivery of the hub.
“This collaborative effort is expected to result in reduced treatment times and an enhanced overall patient experience.”
Following months of preparation and continual interaction with stakeholders to ensure the execution of construction phases without affecting patient care delivery, the project’s variation paperwork was formally signed last month.
