The Western Australian (WA) Labor state government has announced that construction is underway on two school projects in Perth’s north-eastern suburbs.
The projects are at Caversham Valley Primary School and the Brabham Primary School preschool and preprimary centre.
At Caversham Valley Primary School, a A$12.3m ($8.18m) initiative is underway for a new two-storey teaching block.
It will feature ten general classrooms, staff offices, learning spaces, a science classroom, toilets, and storage.
This expansion will also introduce a landscaped courtyard and play area, with completion expected next year.
Planning is underway for the enhancements at Caversham Primary School, aimed at accommodating up to 300 students through permanent facilities, replacing ageing transportable buildings.
The second phase of the Brabham Primary School preschool and preprimary centre is also advancing, scheduled to open for the 2025 school year.
This A$37.36m phase includes a double-storey teaching block, preschool and preprimary facilities, an education support centre, and more.
The first phase of Brabham Primary School’s off-site facilities opened earlier this year.
The A$39.9m Brabham East Primary School, currently under construction, will accommodate 540 students from preschool to year six in 2025.
This facility offers amenities such as administration blocks, teaching facilities, a library, assembly areas, and more.
Additionally, Anne Hamersley Primary School is set to unveil a new A$16.6m double-storey building featuring preprimary and general classrooms and supporting amenities for 380 students by 2025.
Moreover, the development of a new high school near the upcoming Whiteman Park Metronet Station in Brabham is progressing, supported by an initial A$15m allocation.
These initiatives are part of the WA Government’s A$4.4bn investment to enhance and expand educational facilities statewide.
WA Education Minister Tony Buti said: “We are investing in these facilities to accommodate rapid growth in the area.
“These new and modern facilities will complement the already outstanding schools in the area and will meet the needs of students and local families now and in the future.”
