AECOM subsidiary Tishman Construction has secured a contract to provide programme management and construction management services for the first phase of the $1bn Metropolis development in Los Angeles, US.
The project, which was developed by China-based Greenland Group, will feature mixed-use residential, hotel and retail spaces on a 6.33 acre site in Los Angeles.
Phase one of the project will feature a 19-storey hotel with 350 rooms and a 38-storey residential tower that will house about 300 units.
Designed by architectural firm Gensler, the planned two-phase development will feature one hotel and three residential buildings, with all of the housing retail space on the ground floor.
AECOM said the project’s site is a full city block, strategically bordering the harbor freeway. It is situated between the financial district to the north, including the LA Live hotel and entertainment complex, and the Los Angeles Convention Centre to the south.
Ground-breaking on phase one of the project is scheduled for February, while the hotel is expected to be completed in early 2016 and the first residential tower is planned to open in summer 2016.
