A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11999133B2) outlines a manufacturing method for glass film with resin tape. The process involves forming an elongated glass film with marginal portions and an effective portion, annealing the glass film, continuously forming resin tapes on the glass film, removing the marginal portions, and applying a protective sheet between the resin tapes. The resin tapes are attached to the glass film using adhesive, and the protective sheet has a thickness greater than the total thickness of the resin tapes and adhesive. The method also includes steps for winding the glass film with resin tape into a roll, with the resin tapes formed on only one surface of the glass film.

Furthermore, the patent details additional steps for a finished glass film manufacturing method, which includes obtaining the glass film with resin tape, removing the resin tapes from the effective portion of the glass film, and winding the finished glass film into a roll. Additionally, there is a step for cutting the finished glass film into sheets in a width direction. The method ensures that the resin tapes are formed at positions away from the edge sides of the glass film by 40% or less of the width of the glass film, and the effective portion of the glass film has a specific thickness range. The manufacturing method utilizes various glass forming processes such as float, overflow downdraw, and slot downdraw processes to achieve the desired glass film with resin tape product.
