Lacina shopping centre

Eiffage and Apsys have signed a construction contract for the Lacina shopping centre at the Poznan business and trade centre in Poland.

The contract is worth about €140m and the entire project is expected to cost around €290m.

Under the deal, Eiffage Construction and Apsys subsidiary Centrum Lacina will construct the multi-functional shopping centre, which will stand on the right bank of the Warta River.

The complex will have a leasable area of around 100,000m², comprising around 300 shops and 3,300 parking places.

Designed by architectural firm RTKL, the shopping centre is expected to meet the high standards required for Breeam certification.

The completed complex will feature 220 boutiques and 55 medium and large shops.

Plans also include the creation of a 25,000m² fashion avenue and an area to house 25 restaurants and eating facilities.

Eiffage said that only top-quality materials will be used in the project, including marble floors, elaborate ceilings, decorative lighting and numerous LCD screens.

Eiffage Construction’s subsidiary Eiffage Polska Budownictwo will carry out the work over a period of 26 months, with 15 months scheduled for constructing the shell.

Twelve cranes will be needed to construct the shopping centre’s stone-faced walls and glass facades.

The company will also create the square in front of the main entry, that will have fountains and lighting effects as a key element of the centre.

Construction work is due to start this spring and is expected to be completed by 2016.

In 2011, the City of Poznan and Apsys Poland signed an annex to the agreement on the exchange of the land, which allowed the company to obtain the building permit for Lacina shopping centre.

Apsys Poland manages 15 shopping centres in Poland and Russia.
