Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore (BGCMB) has celebrated the ground-breaking of the Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club at Hilton Recreation Center in the US.

The Ravens, BGCMB, LEVEL82, Green Street Academy, and Baltimore City Recreation and Parks collaborated with Whiting-Turner, Design Collective, and Cap Ex Advisory Group for this project.

Last year, plans for the club were first announced with a $20m lead donation from the Baltimore Ravens themselves and Stephen & Renee Bisciotti Foundation.

Since then, further fundraising, permitting, and planning activities have taken place.

Baltimore Ravens president Sashi Brown said: “This has been a journey that was launched by the generosity of the Bisciotti Foundation and now this club will really start to take shape and become a reality for this community.

“Football is a team sport, and this has been an amazing team effort with so many partners stepping up for the youth of our city. The next step will be cutting the ribbon on this amazing and special place.”

An additional $12m has been secured to support the construction and long-term operation of the facility to date.

The plans for the club include a multipurpose athletic field with sports lighting, a technology room, tutoring spaces, a teen lounge, a gym, an art room, a kitchen, and more.

Meanwhile, BGCMB is expected to provide daily after-school and mid-year youth programmes focusing on health and well-being, character and leadership, academic success, and life and work readiness.

The club is intended to cater to more than 2,000 children, teenagers, and community members, with completion expected by September 2025.

Additionally, programme partners are anticipated to offer specialised programmes tailored to the needs and requests of children and teens.  oys-girls-club
