By GlobalDataNew Orleans Tricentennial Tower would create an iconic experience for visitors in a similar way to Seattle’s Space Needle or England’s London Eye.
US Thrill Rides president Michael Kitchen said: "The Seattle Space Needle hosts well over 1 million visitors per year.
"US Thrill Rides, Two Canal Street Investors and our additional investor partners believe that a New Orleans’s Tricentennial Tower on the Riverfront would quickly become one of the city’s most popular visitor attractions."
According to Kitchen, the new tower could help New Orleans city reach its goal of drawing 15 million tourists a year.
The group is also planning a New Orleans 360 Interactive Experience, in association with the Louisiana Maritime Museum, which will be located on a 300ft-high observation deck.
The tower is scheduled to open in 2018.
