University of Kentucky (UK) in the US has released a turf field design for the Commonwealth Stadium, the homeground for the men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic squads, the Kentucky Wildcats.
The design features UK Athletics’ new interlocking UK logo, which will be placed midfield around ten yards horizontally between one 45-yard line and the other. It is the same size as the previous logo.
The field will be marked with blue checkerboard patterns at the end zones, a look that was tested for the final home game in 2014.
Team areas along the sidelines will also feature the design, with white Kentucky lettering, and the 25-yard line on both sides of the field will be marked with Southeastern Conference logos.
Synthetic turf field will have UBU-Speed Series-S5-M as the surface, the same one used in the UK during the 2013 and 2014 Super Bowls and the Pro Bowl.
Estimated renovation costs stand at $120m.

By GlobalDataUK athletics director Mitch Barnhart said: "What we’ve come to do in our facilities is a pretty clean look that is a little edgy, that’s got an element of cool to it.
"Hopefully we’ve done that. There’s a bit of a traditional piece to it that I want to keep."
The field is presently undergoing surface installation, which is expected to be complete by July. Doug Vescio-owned Vescio’s SportsFields is responsible for the surface installation under a contract worth $672,500.
The UK will play its first game on the renovated field with University of Louisiana at Lafayette on 5 September.
