Arcona, a subsidiary of Veidekke, has secured an execution contract to undertake a renovation project at the Södersjukhuset hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
Awarded by Region Stockholm’s property company Locum, the contract is valued at approximately Skr300m ($29.01m).
This comes after Locum announced its plans to construct an additional four floors in building 20 at the Södertälje hospital last month.
Preparatory work has commenced for the latest project, scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
The project entails an overhaul of approximately 11,300m² within buildings 17 and 18 of the hospital.
These structures will be updated to align with current standards for modern healthcare facilities, featuring improved layouts and enhanced technical systems.

Arcona’s role extends from room design to installation work, emphasising the delivery of high-standard facilities.
Arcona business manager Andreas Asplinger said: “At Arcona, we are very proud to have received this assignment. We are looking forward to working with Locum again, after our successful construction of building 72 at Södersjukhuset, which several of our current employees helped complete five years ago.”
The contract has been recorded in Arcona’s first-quarter 2024 order book.
In May last year, Arcona was awarded a design-and-build contract by Botkyrka Municipality.
The contract entails the construction of a school and sports facility in Hallunda outside Stockholm.
