Scout Motors has started construction on its new production centre in Blythewood, South Carolina, US.
The company was formed to deliver all-electric trucks and rugged sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
The ground-breaking ceremony of the centre featured a display of original Scout vehicles and a 3D model of the upcoming facility.
During the event, at the original Scout factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana, former plant manager Jim Poiry presented a brick from the factory to the Scout Motors team.
The brick, gifted by Harvester Homecoming and the Tippman family, is intended to contribute to the construction of the new production centre.
The centre will span approximately 1,600 acres, with the plant itself occupying an area of 1,100 acres.

By GlobalDataScout CPO Jan Spies said: “We could not be more proud to build our Production Center, workforce and vehicles here in Blythewood, South Carolina.
“At our peak capacity, we plan to produce 200,000 vehicles a year here – that’s 40 per hour.”
Scout aims to start vehicle production by the end of 2026, with retail sales of its trucks and SUVs to follow shortly.
The new vehicles will be built on an all-electric platform, designed to offer credible capability and off-road performance.
Features at the site will include ground clearance, approach angles, axles, payload capacity, an extended electric range, and digital features.
The site’s location near I-77 and Blythewood Road will provide connectivity to major motorways, ports, and educational institutions specialising in vehicle engineering.
The latest project comes after the company announced plans to develop its Scout Innovation Center in Novi, Michigan, US, last December.
This research and development facility is intended to accommodate Scout’s product, design, and engineering teams, along with members from cross-functional support teams.
