Kingspan Insulated Panels North America, a business unit of building materials company Kingspan, has launched a new 3D viewer tool.

This tool is designed to enable architects, general contractors, and installers to virtually explore construction details for Kingspan’s insulated metal wall panels (IMPs).

The 3D viewer provides access to more than 60 construction details, including framed openings and wall-to-roof transitions, inside and outside corners, parapets, and more.

It aims to offer a clearer understanding of how panels and accessories connect, bridging the gap between 2D drawings and real-world construction.

Kingspan Insulated Metal Panels North America Marketing Services and Strategy Developments vice-president Karim Muri said: “We as people perceive the world in 3D – we don’t see things on a flat page.

“Kingspan’s 3D product viewer helps industry professionals understand how our products go onto a building, how they’re fastened, and how they fit together before they ever arrive on site for a construction project.”

The viewer also supports the export of models into PDF and IFC formats, facilitating the integration of Kingspan’s products into various design software.

This feature intends to save time and foster digital collaboration among architects, designers, and engineers.

It provides users the option to choose any of Kingspan’s IMPs in horizontal or vertical applications.

The tool’s functionality includes changing projections, viewing products through different perspectives, and utilising a clip plane tool for detailed cross-sections and annotations.

Additional features include text markup, as well as colour batch selection.

The 3D viewer is accessible through a web browser, eliminating the need for specialised software, and making product details available to all.
