Construction companies NRC Group Finland and YIT have been appointed to provide services for Area 2 of the Espoo City Rail Link in Finland.
Awarded by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, the contract is valued at approximately €36m ($39.51m).
Both companies will share responsibilities in the project.
NRC Group Finland is a wholly owned subsidiary of NRC Group ASA. In the total contract value, NRC’s share amounts to roughly €18m.
The scope of work under the contract includes a range of activities such as rail construction, foundation, groundwork, as well as the building of bridges and platforms.
Construction work is set to commence next month, with a planned completion date in June 2028.

By GlobalDataNRC noted that the signing of a formal contract will take place 14 days after 11 January 2023.
The Espoo City Rail Link project is being carried out as a joint development between Espoo, Kauniainen, and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.
It involves the construction of two new tracks between Leppävaara and Kauklahti, with the tracks to be built adjacent to the previous ones.
The rail link aims to enhance train services’ efficiency and punctuality in the region. The total cost of the rail link is €275m.
YIT and NRC Group Finland have also served as contractors for the light rail line 15, part of the Jokeri Light Rail project.
The two companies were appointed as service providers for the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa tramway alliance.
