Studio HIVE has appointed HG Construction as the main contractor for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Bristol, UK.
The project, a part of the Silverthorne Lane Plot 6 development, will feature 706 rooms, including both cluster bedrooms and studios, along with various amenity spaces.
The development is said to be a key component of the regeneration efforts in Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone (TQEZ), which is set to see an investment of approximately £375m ($476.28m) across residential, student housing, and commercial projects, including a new comprehensive school.
The PBSA scheme will consist of four blocks, ranging from five to 15 storeys, with pairs of blocks being interconnected.
At the centre of the development will be a landscaped courtyard, designed to be a central gathering space for students while also featuring sports and games facilities and quieter areas for relaxation.
HG will also deliver piling and prefabricated utility cupboards, ensuring quality and programme benefits.

By GlobalDataHG CEO Adam Quinn said: “With a carefully thought-out design which will benefit the local community and enhance the student experience, the scheme will make a very positive addition to Silverthorne Lane.
“As our first scheme in Bristol, we are looking forward to getting to know the local area and will maximise opportunities for local employment and community engagement throughout the construction of this project.”
Bristol-based developer Studio HIVE is spearheading the PBSA project in collaboration with Far East Orchard, Woh Hup, and Atlas Land, which acquired the site in June 2022.
The scheme will also benefit from proposed enhancements to pedestrian and cycle routes in the area.
The completion of the student accommodation is anticipated for 2026, marking a significant milestone in the TQEZ’s regeneration.
