By GlobalDataConstruction of the centre is predicted to commence in early February this year and is set for completion in late 2025.
According to Veidekke, Sandefjord has opted for emission-free construction sites, mandating the exclusive use of electricity or hydrogen as energy sources.
Carbon emissions from building materials will also be approximately 30% lower than a reference building and will meet energy class A standards.
Veidekke Bygg Vestfold og Telemark district manager Lars N Hjertås said: “The activity centre meets an important need for society, and we consider it very meaningful to build such an important building.
“We are therefore particularly pleased that we won the fierce competition for the commission where the award criteria were 40% price and 60% quality.”
Recently, Veidekke received a contract to build a parking garage and student apartments in Gjøvik, a municipality in Toten, Norway.
