British architecture firm Design Research Studio has won a deal to design the lobby and connected facilities of AMP Capital's Quay Quarter Tower at 50 Bridge Street in Sydney, Australia.
The Tom Dixon-owned company secured the new contract after winning a competition organised by AMP Capital, along with its lead design architects of the tower 3XN.
AMP secured approval of the stage-two development application (DA) for the 49-floor tower last year.
The Quay Quarter Sydney campus will be a mix of commercial, retail and luxury residential space, and will spread over two inner city blocks, with a total site area of around 11,000m². It will also include specialty shopping, cafes, restaurants and bars.
AMP Capital real estate chief operating officer Louise Mason said: “We used this competition to specifically seek out globally pre-eminent designers of lifestyle spaces such as hotels, clubs, restaurants, bars and co-working spaces, who can bring a completely different perspective to how we would normally view, and therefore design, a commercial lobby.”
The company is planning to begin the construction of the tower by next year upon receiving final investor approvals, and construction is set to take an estimated three years to complete.
