UK-based Kier Construction and its joint venture partners have celebrated the topping out ceremony of the TIDE Bankside building in Southwark, UK.
The ceremony marks the completion of the main structure works of this mixed-use project named TIDE Bankside, developed by Barings and LBS Properties.
The new 12-storey, 145,000ft² structure will feature a mix of office space, affordable workspace, and retail space in London’s Bankside neighbourhood, near Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern building.
Kier Construction London & Southern regional director Gus Wright said: “This project, which utilises our expertise of delivering large-scale sustainable commercial developments on tight inner-city sites, has been constructed to meet the highest sustainable building standards, and will prove to be an important asset for the local community.”
Approximately £69m is being spent on the construction of the building.
TIDE, designed by architecture company Squire & Partners, will be a net-zero-carbon development with a NABERS design evaluated goal rating of five stars and a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Outstanding certification.

Barings UK Asset Management and Real Estate managing director Ian Mayhew said: “We acquired this office in the summer of 2021 because we recognised how changing tenant requirements would create a fresh wave of demand for well-located, sustainable, and beautifully designed office buildings.
“Set to open in autumn 2024, we have that same confidence and look forward to the next phase of development for TIDE.”
