Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has completed piling work at the £150m residential project ‘Madison’ in Canary Wharf, London.
With 625 12m-25m piles driven into the ground, firm foundations are in place to build the 53-storey 180m-high tower.
Designed by Make Architects and developed by LBS Properties, the project includes 423 specification studios and 104 one, two and three bedroom homes with a variety of amenities such as outside space, a hotel-style lounge, gym and swimming pool.
Balfour Beatty London regional business managing director Graham Hill said: “Utilising Balfour Beatty’s knowledge of complex structures in tall towers and our wide in-house expertise, we have completed the initial stage of ground works at the Madison.
“Once completed, the scheme will be a landmark addition to the luxury high-end residential towers within the area of Canary Wharf."
The planned hexagonal glass covering for the tower is expected to enable dedication of 70% of Madison’s footprint to a new public garden.
