Nordic construction company Peab has received a contract worth Skr337m for the construction of a new assisted-living facility in Sweden.

To be built for Orsa Municipality, the facility will feature 108 apartments, of which 18 units will be used for short-term stays and the remaining to house permanent residents.

Outdoor environmental work consists of redirecting and channelling Skyttola Creek, as well as building a water mirror, walking and driving areas, and parking spaces.

Peab region manager Nils Staffansson said: “We’re really pleased to have won the contract to build Orsa’s new assisted-living facility ‘Slipstenen’.

“We look forward to starting up the project with its fine architecture and exciting floor plans.”

Construction is scheduled to commence later this year.

The project is anticipated to be ready for occupation in 2027. Peab has registered the order in the third quarter of this year.

Orsa Municipal Board chair Mikael Thalin said: “It feels great to finally begin construction and I really look forward to it. This is a vital investment for senior care in Orsa.”

Earlier this month, Peab secured a contract from Västfastigheter and Västra Götaland County in Sweden for the construction of a greenhouse and visitor centre in the Gothenburg Botanical Garden.
