Swedish construction company NCC has received a contract from Denmark-based Vores Bolig to renovate 236 residential units in Frederiksværk, North Zealand, Denmark.
The value of this contract is estimated at Skr230m ($22.6m).
The Frederiksværk residential areas were constructed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and are presently being renovated as part of the Danish National Building Fund’s overarching plan.
Tenant-owner and association chair Trine Feldstedt said: “This is a major project extending over two years and will thus require a great deal of logistical organisation and temporary housing for many of our residents.
“At the same time, the board naturally expects continued constructive and close cooperation concerning planning and communication between NCC Building Nordics, the project management team at Domea byg, the supervisors involved, the building committee and the board of the area.”
The project involves roof and facade renovations, as well as window and door replacements. Furthermore, new mechanical ventilation systems for restrooms will be developed. Some of the units will also be accessible to those with disabilities.

By GlobalDataNCC’s area manager for its Building Nordics’ refurbishment unit Brian Hasfeldt said: “We have extensive experience in refurbishing large portfolios.
“Some of the refurbishment will have to be conducted while residents are still living in their homes, so we are using solutions that will minimise inconvenience for them.
“For example, we are focusing on limiting heavy traffic in the area, avoiding the accumulation of waste and offering alternative shower and toilet solutions while the bathrooms are being renovated.”
NCC will record this order in its Building Nordics business segment for the third quarter of this year.
