The Government of the Netherlands has plans to construct two new nuclear power plants by 2035, reported Reuters.
These two plants will be able to cater to up to 13% of the total electricity production of the country by 2035, according to the Dutch government.

The facilities are expected to play a crucial role in the country’s energy transition efforts given that it intends to make its power generation carbon neutral by 2040.
In 2021, the country drew 12% of its energy from sustainable sources.
The government plans to construct the new plants close to the only one nuclear plant that is presently operational, at Borssele in the southwest of the country.
Out of a total fund of €35bn intended to fund the energy transition in the decade to come, the government had allocated €5bn earlier for the construction of new nuclear power plants, dedicated.
