By GlobalDataThis building was last used a tax office, and prior to that, it was used as a fire and police station.
Following the renovation, the building will meet modern indoor air and soundproofing requirements.
Additionally, an extension will be constructed in the courtyard of the courthouse. This extension will be linked with the old building.
The site will accommodate the district court, the bailiff’s office and the public prosecutor’s office in future.
YIT regional director Jani Knuuttila said: “YIT builds functional and sustainable living environments to make sustainable life easy. The aim is to enable a smooth and sustainable everyday life for people, businesses and society. The renovation of the Kuopio Courthouse is a good example of this. We look forward to working with Senate Properties.”
Senate Properties construction manager Jarkko Karvonen said: “The starting point of the spatial design was to create safe and healthy solutions that are in line with the judicial administration’s working environment and premises concept and support new ways of working and digitalisation. We are looking forward to developing the design solutions for implementation and starting the construction work with YIT.”
