Porters Place Southend-on-Sea has secured planning consent from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council for the £500m Better Queensway regeneration project.
The project, being developed by Swan Housing Association and Porters Place Southend, will transform central Southend into a new community with high quality housing and outdoor space.

The work on the scheme will involve phased demolition of four existing tower blocks on the Queensway estate and will be replaced with up to 1,760 modern new homes.
Designed by architects dRMM and LDA Design, the project will also include 10,000m2 of commercial space including retail and cafes, public realm improvements and a new urban park and public squares along with additional residential car parking.
Every home in the development will have its own private outdoor space such as a balcony, terrace or garden.
It will also include 190 new trees and 1,400m of new cycle paths along Queensway and Southchurch Road, electric car charging points, and greener energy generation.

By GlobalDataBetter Queensway regeneration project will include at least 512 genuinely affordable homes through a mix of 300 social rented homes and 212 intermediate homes.
Southend Council and Swan are also planning to deliver another 100 genuinely affordable homes through a separate contractual agreement.
Swan Housing Association deputy chief executive and Porters Place Southend-on-Sea chair Geoff Pearce said: “The Better Queensway regeneration project will transform Southend-on-Sea not only through the re-development of the existing estate but by improving the lives of existing and new residents.
