AECOM, a premier infrastructure consulting firm, has won a contract to provide detailed planning and design consulting services for the Tuen Mun South Extension project in Hong Kong.
The Tuen Mun South Extension project, operated by Mass Transit Railway (MTR), will include a 2.4-km extension of the West Rail Line. It will be extended from the existing Tuen Mun Station to a new terminus at Tuen Mun South.
The project will also include a new intermediate station A16, which will be developed along with the property development in the area.
AECOM chief executive officer Troy Rudd said: “As we execute our strategy of bringing together one integrated design organization, we will leverage our best-in-class, global transportation design capabilities to bring the full breadth of our expertise to bear on this project.”
Under the contract, AECOM will work with the MTR Projects team and government departments and other stakeholders to provide consultancy for the project’s engineering design, prepare the construction programme, gazette plans, and cost estimation of the project.
AECOM Greater China chief executive Ian Chung said: “Over the past five decades, AECOM has worked in close partnership with Mass Transit Railway (MTR) and provided strategy studies to 90% of Hong Kong’s rail system.
