Global construction firm Multiplex, on behalf of Schiavello Group, has announced the completion of the A$1bn ($713.9m) mixed-use scheme, M-City Monash in Clayton’s former warehousing district in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The M-City development, which is a new gateway to Melbourne’s South East Growth Corridor, is located at 2109-2125 Dandenong Road on the corner of Princess Highway and Blackburn Road.

Claimed to be one of the largest master-planned community single-stage developments in Victoria, the 30,000m2 M-City Monash development is designed by architects The Buchan Group.

Multiplex Victoria regional managing director Graham Cottam said: “We are delighted to complete one of the most significant new developments in Victoria. M-City is a vibrant miniature city in itself delivering premium office, residential, retail and hotel accommodation. It will quickly become a new lifestyle destination in Clayton.”

Construction work on the M-City scheme was started by Multiplex on in July 2018 and created up to 1,100 jobs during the two years.

The new scheme provides a range of residential offerings, convenience retail, an international hotel and short-stay accommodation, dining and entertainment options, office spaces, gym and childcare.

The M-City’s residential precinct comprises four residential buildings, offering a total of 665 apartments.

The towers feature a range of exclusive facilities including landscaped rooftop gardens with tennis courts and open-air games areas, fitness centre, among others.

Additionally, the M-City comprises a 10-level international hotel featuring 250 rooms, a restaurant and bar and conference facilities.

Also, the M-City’s eight-level commercial office tower provides about 14,000m2 of A-Grade commercial space on top of a two-level retail podium.

Providing a range of cafes and destination dining options, the 30,450m2 retail centre features 78 stores including Woolworths, K-Mart, Village cinema complex, a medical centre among others.
