The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded four civil contracts, worth S$682.5m ($490.7m) in total, for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) project.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction– local contractor Yongnam Engineering & Construction joint venture has been awarded design and construction contract for three JRL stations and their associated viaducts.
The S$320.4m ($230.4m) contract covers the design and construction of Toh Guan, Jurong Town Hall and Pandan Reservoir stations and viaducts spanning 3.6km.
The joint venture is planning to commence construction work on the three stations later this year.
LTA awarded about S$215.5m ($154.9m) second contract to a consortium between Singapore’s Siemens Mobility and Spain’s Siemens Rail Automation for providing the signalling system and half-height platform screen doors for the JRL.
The scope of the contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the signalling system and half-height platform screen doors for the entire JRL.
Additionally, LTA awarded two contracts worth S$146.6m ($105.4m) to ST Engineering Electronics for the provision of the integrated supervisory control system (ISCS) and the communications system for the JRL.
Said to be an integral part of efficient rail operations, the ISCS provides the basic framework to enable a rail line’s Operation Control Centre, Depot Control Centre and Passenger Service Centre to remotely supervise and control equipment.
The JRL’s communications system comprises sub-systems such as the communications backbone network, digital trunked radio, video surveillance, public address, telephone and travel information systems.
The communications system is intended to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a fully-automated train system.
