Norwegian construction company Veidekke was selected by Stena Renewable for the construction of foundations and associated roads for the 47 wind turbines of Vindpark Tvinnesheda in Tvinnesheda–Badeboda outside Åseda in Småland, Sweden.
The design and build contract is valued at SEK265m ($27.5m), the project is expected to be completed by next December. The contract includes the construction of roads leading to every wind turbine along with the associated areas for cranes, storage of turbine wings, etc.
Veidekke will also build the internal power grid along with the groundwork and cast foundations on which the wind turbines will be installed.
Veidekke Sweden civil engineering construction manager Anders Johansson said: “We appreciate being given the confidence of constructing this exciting project. Being able to contribute to improving our environment by developing Swedish wind power is important to us.
“Applying an interactive and involved way of working, we plan to utilise everyone’s knowledge to come up with the best solutions for the project.”
Stena Renewable is investing SEK2.2bn ($228m) in the construction of the Vindpark Tvinnesheda, which will provide the power to the Uppvidinge Municipality.

By GlobalDataThe wind farm project was realised through cooperation between wind power operators and grid owner E.ON along with a grid reinforcement loan from Swedish power transmission authority Svenskakraftnät.
As per a plan, a total of 700MW of new power generation is expected to be connected to the grid in this area, plagued by the insufficient power supply.
Earlier this month, the Veidekke’s subsidiary Arcona was selected by real estate fund manager Genesta to renovate and remodel the property Svea Artilleri on Lidingövägen in Stockholm, Sweden.
The design and build contract is valued at SEK219m ($22.7m) and the work is expected to be completed by May 2022.
As per the contract, Svea Artilleri is expected to be transformed into a modern office property with 12,800m², including new technical systems and flexible space solutions.
