Today the Mittelberg is a highly forested hill in the eastern part of Germany. However, 3,600 years ago it was a woodless deforested area, cleared for bronze processing. The site was marked by a low circular rampart. As a result of the latest excavation, the centre of the circular bulwark is once again mostly treeless, like a clearing in the forest.
Nebra Sky Disc observation tower
From now on the observation tower will be the landmark of the finding place of the Nebra Sky Disc. It will have great impact on the site and act as the central orientation element for visitors.
The design of the surrounding area will be simple, limited to only a few highlights. The rampart, the view, the finding place and the Sky Disc itself are the central motifs of the design concept.
