May 2022 has seen a decrease of 9.4% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.61% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 55.78% in May 2022, a 9.07% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.4% in May 2022, marking a 19.53% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 8.42% in May 2022, a 9.26% rise from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 9.01% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s construction industry during May 2022 over previous month.
General Electric posted 92 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 20.69% over the previous month, followed by Honeywell International with 86 jobs and a 13.16% growth. Jones Lang LaSalle with 52 IT jobs and NV Bekaert with 46 jobs, recorded a 26.76% drop and a 9.8% drop, respectively, while Komatsu recorded a 23.33% increase with 37 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s construction industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 64.48% share in May 2022, a 6.61% decrease over April 2022. Australia featured next with a 14.84% share, down 17.46% over the previous month. China recorded an 8.42% share, a drop of 19.18% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.06%, down by 11.39% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.53% share, registered a decline of 12.26% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.27% share, up 1.18% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
