Mace has started construction work on the UK’s London School of Economics and Political Science’s (LSE) Marshall Building.
The redevelopment project at LSE serves as the latest addition to the central London campus.
LSE initially appointed McGee Demolition to demolish the existing structure at 44 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, which was previously the headquarters of Cancer Research UK.
The site is now under the control of Mace, which will work over the next 2.5 years to deliver a new landmark academic facility for LSE.
Mace Public Sector Construction managing director Terry Spraggett said: “The Marshall Building will be an iconic addition to the LSE’s campus, and we have been working closely with the architects, Grafton, to bring this groundbreaking design to life.”
Mace expects to complete the project in 2021.

Over the last four years, Mace has been working with LSE with regards to the construction of the Centre Buildings Redevelopment project, which is to be completed later this year.
London School of Economics and Political Science Capital Development director Kenneth Kinsella said: “This is a real milestone for the project, and we look forward to working with Mace over the next two years to turn our plans for the Marshall Building into reality.
“The demolition of the existing buildings has gone very well, and our success to date is a reflection of all of the hard work put into the project so far by the entire team.”
