UAE-based real estate developer DAMAC Properties has revealed the completion of the raft foundation for Tower C of Dubai’s $2bn multi-tower Aykon City master development on Sheikh Zayed Road near Dubai Canal.
Aykon City will be home to Aykon Plaza, an entertainment and lifestyle hub for the community that includes swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafes, restaurants, yoga and tai-chi areas, as well as a residents-only private recreation space called The Club.
Approximately 288,600ft³ of concrete and more than 1,500mt of steel for the foundation slab was used for Tower C, known as ‘The Residence’.
With a total built-up area of nearly 1.8-million square feet, the 62-floor Tower C will feature studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as The Club.
The tower is made up of two basement, ground and ten podium levels, a dedicated lifestyle and entertainment level, 48 residential floors and a rooftop.
DAMAC senior vice-president Niall McLoughlin said: “The foundation work presented a complex challenge for the project management team as the site is in the middle of a busy metropolitan.

As the foundation is complete, the company start building the main columns and core walls.
In August, DAMAC Properties awarded an AED512m construction contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to build Tower C of Aykon City.
The four-million square feet mixed-used Aykon City development is expected to complete in 2021.
CSCEC received an AED600m ($163.3m) contract from DAMAC for the construction of Tower B at its development in February.
The raft foundation work was completed in May for Tower B using 200,000ft³ of concrete.
