The George Kaiser Family Foundation has chosen Seattle-based Olson Kundig to serve as lead architect and exhibit designer for The Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US.
Expected to open in 2021, the centre will serve as an exhibition space dedicated to the works of singer and songwriter Bob Dylan.

It will be located on Martin Luther King Boulevard south-east of the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa.
Dylan said: “I’m glad that my archives, which have been collected all these years, have finally found a home and are to be included with the works of Woody Guthrie and especially alongside all the valuable artifacts from the Native American Nations. To me, it makes a lot of sense and it’s a great honour.”
The centre will serve as the public place curating and exhibiting a collection of more than 100,000 items spanning Dylan’s career.
These will include handwritten manuscripts, notebooks and correspondence; unreleased studio and concert recordings; films, videos, photographs and artwork; personal documents and effects; memorabilia and ephemera; musical instruments and many other elements.

Lilly Architects is partnering with Olson Kundig as the architect of record for the project and Plains of Yonder is the partner to bring audio and multimedia experiences for the project.
Accommodating permanent, temporary and travelling exhibitions, this centre will serve as a venue that can be accessible by artists, historians, musicologists, cultural critics and the general public.
The centre will coexist and interact with The Bob Dylan Archive at the Helmerich Center for American Research in Tulsa, and The Institute for Bob Dylan Studies at the University of Tulsa.
Tulsa-based Lilly Architects has partnered with Olson Kundig as a record architect, while Plains of Yonder will provide audio and multimedia experiences for the project.
