Construction has started on the expansion of Enota Park in Atlanta, Georgia, US, which will enhance it from a 0.3-acre playlot into an 8-acre recreational hub.
This development aims to provide a boost to the city’s green space and connect the historic Westview neighbourhood to the West End along the Atlanta Beltline trails.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the Enota Park expansion project took place on Earth Day 2025, marking the start of a long-awaited initiative spanning nearly two decades.
The project is scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens said: “For decades, the Westview community has lacked a place for kids to play, families to gather and neighbours to connect in the way that’s going to happen when we complete this project.”
“The Beltline is a crucial part of how we connect our communities and enhance the quality of life for Atlanta residents, linking people to opportunity and safe, green, multimodal spaces. And we are doing it sustainably here on Earth Day.”

By GlobalDataFirst conceptualised in the Trust for Public Land’s 2004 Beltline Emerald Necklace Study, the Enota Park expansion is a step in enhancing Atlanta’s urban landscape.
The park will feature three areas, including a performance pavilion, pedestrian connections to the Beltline, and a recreational space with various amenities such as a solar-powered seating area and sports facilities.
The plan for the park began between 2007 and 2009 when the Trust for Public Land acquired properties essential for the park’s expansion.
Full-service architecture and engineering company POND was selected in 2018 to lead the design and planning efforts for Enota Park.
The park’s transformation is being funded through various sources, including the Atlanta Beltline Tax Allocation District, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, the City of Atlanta’s Moving Atlanta Forward bond, and philanthropic contributions.
The Coca-Cola Foundation, Georgia Power Company, Truist Trusteed Foundations, The Fraser-Parker Foundation, and Norfolk Southern, among others, have provided philanthropic support through the Atlanta Beltline Partnership’s campaign.
An additional $1.3m in private funding is required to fully realise the park’s potential.
Key collaborators on the project include Reeves Young for construction, POND for design, and multiple governmental and non-profit organisations.
The park’s design incorporates sustainable infrastructure improvements, such as stormwater management systems, comprehensive lighting and security, and landscaping with irrigation.
The Enota Park expansion is part of a growing network of green spaces connected to the Atlanta Beltline, which includes several parks and recreational areas.
