Nordic construction and civil engineering company Peab has secured a contract to construct a new housing development comprising 100 units in Lindvallen, Sweden.
Skiab, jointly owned by SkiStar and Peab, commissioned the contract, which is valued at Skr135m ($13m).
Peab’s task involves the creation of 100 rental apartments housed within a two-storey structure featuring a wooden exterior.
This building is part of an emerging district situated adjacent to Lindvallen’s commercial zone and will be designed to comply with the Miljöbyggnad Silver certification standards.
Peab regional manager Fredrik Timan said: “We have broad experience and employees with a high level of expertise in building in a mountain environment. This is an attractive area and a growing and developing destination.”
According to Henrik Lundmark, property director of SkiStar, the project will provide approximately 600 additional beds for guests in Lindvallen during the 2026-2027 ski season.
“It feels good to continue to deliver memorable mountain experiences to even more guests,” Lundmark stated.
The undertaking is structured as a turnkey contract, with construction set to commence this month. The development is set to be completed in November 2026.
The order will be registered by Peab in the second quarter of 2025.
Skiab Invest MD Matilda Öberg said: “The project in Sälen is a key element of Skiab’s work to develop modern, high-quality and sustainable housing in the Swedish mountains.
“We’re therefore really pleased that we’ve succeeded in realising this project in a great location in Lindvallen.”
Recently, Peab was awarded a contract for the expansion of a smolt facility in Bjørnafjorden, Norway.
The company also partnered with Södra to foster climate-friendly practices within the construction sector through the development of the standardised ECO hybrid frame solution.
