Motif has unveiled a new cloud-based collaboration platform designed to streamline real-time collaboration among architecture and engineering teams.

This platform is claimed to address the longstanding fragmentation in design review processes by integrating both 2D and 3D workflows into a single, unified system.

Motif CEO and co-founder Amar Hanspal said: “Today’s AEC [architecture, engineering, and construction] workflows are burdened by fragmented data, rigid software, and disconnected collaboration tools that slow down decision-making.

“Motif is redefining BIM [building information modelling] with a focus on being open, intelligent, and collaborative, where BIM isn’t just about managing information – it’s about unlocking intelligence. We’re starting with intelligent collaboration – a platform that bridges gaps between teams, integrates with existing tools, and leverages AI to provide insights that drive better decisions.”

Traditional ‘whiteboard’ solutions reportedly fall short in meeting architects’ needs such as unit measurements and 3D viewing while specialised BIM software often remains out of reach for key stakeholders who require design access.

Motif’s platform introduces a unified collaboration space, allowing architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to collaborate within an infinite canvas workspace.

This space integrates 2D drawings, 3D models, and specifications. With Live Model Streaming & Integration, direct connections to Revit and Rhino enable real-time updates without the need for manual re-uploads.

Additionally, smart presentation tools are stated to allow for the creation of interactive design presentations that maintain connections to evolving designs, without the need to export static slides.

Motif, with its web-based access, eliminates the requirement for software installation.

The platform is designed to support project teams in reviewing designs, whether they are in-office or remote, accessible to anyone involved in design discussions, regardless of their computer-aided design or BIM application expertise.

The platform is currently available for early adopters, offering flexible pricing plans suitable for small teams, mid-sized studios, and large enterprises.
